When money isn’t all you have to lose....
For any gambling addict the invention of online betting has been both a blessing and a curse. There once was a time that the only way to lose your money gambling was to actually get out to the track, a casino or for the ticket scratching diehards, the local store. Those good old days are over and maybe not for the better. Don’t mistake the fact that being able to hop on the computer and fulfill the betting itch isn’t great, but since there is no exchange of “real cash money” it’s easy to get lost in it.
See, back in the day where people had to go to the race track to make a bet were simpler in the sense that there had to be an exchange of real dollar bills to place the bet and should you pick a loser than it’s obvious that there would be no return of the money spent. Now, it doesn’t mean that just because someone used real money that there were not gambling addicts. However seeing and actually feeling the money slip through one’s finger tips was oftentimes enough of a deterrent to make a man think twice about placing the next wager.
This is not the case when you gamble on the computer. When placing a bet online it is similar to putting a twenty dollar bill in a slot machine. It seems that once the money is in the machine and registers as a credit, it somehow stops being real cash. Gambling online is the same way, you use real cash from a prepaid account, but since you don’t see the actual dollar bills then for some they cease to exist as tangible money.
The onslaught of gambling sites is probably responsible for problems with relationships too. Just like online porn, gambling is there and available 24 hours a day, seven days week. This being said, for people currently in a relationship, you might want to be cautious with how much time is spent online and how much is spent with your partner. For those that are single and enjoy their online hobby, maybe sex dating is a better choice for your addicts'lifestyle.
